Sue CC co for Retaliatory PracticesWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA My American Express keeps lowering my credit limit. I paid off my credit card to zero and then Amex lowered the limit from 5000 to 3000. Then a few days ago I made a $1100 bulk business purchase ( I had $3000 limit) then the next day I get a call from Amex that they lowered my limit again to $1300. I thought they were just calling to verify the purchase. Can I sue Amex for acting in a retaliatory fashion against me( if I prove so)? It is one thing for a credit card company to lower your limit in a reasonable manner, but it is another thing for them to retaliate this way. The reason is because, I had the right to spend 3000. when i spent 1100 they penalized me for using the card in a manner which was permitted.

| Retaliation (according to the first online dictionary I found) is an action taken in return for an injury or offense How did you injure or offend Amex? Sounds like there is more to this story. |

| My advice is for this consumer to read his credit card agreement before posting further and appearing uneducated.

| They can lower it to 0 if they want to. They must think you are a greater risk than before!

| I've been a customer since 1994- never late. Had high balances of 10k and have 2 accounts. This card was at -0- balance when they lowered the limit from 5k to 2700.

| AMEX can lower your credit limit for many reasons, including your cedit history with them, your credit history on your credit report, and their overall portfolio of open accounts. When you called them to ask them why they lowered your limit and how you can raise it, what did they say? |
