I just got a notice that it now has a 99.70 deficit as it was garnished for $100 by the Sheriff's office where my hubby lives. I don't know why it was garnished and I doubt if I can find out.
My question is, can I take my name off this account now or am I stuck...will this affect my credit (he is below 500, and I'm at 760) if he doesn't take care of it? I don't know how much more garnishment will be taken out and I want off that account as soon as possible. |
Bethy,
In order to remove your name from the account, it will have to be closed. My suggestion to you is to pay the defecit and close the account. If the account is closed due to an OD balance, it may go to a collection agency and then your credit score will be affected. The hundy you'll spend bringing the account to a zero balance isn't much when you are looking at protecting your credit score.
I hope that helps. take care, ana
