| Trouble finding options/loans What is the name of your state? Minnesota
My husband and I have mulled over bankruptcy through the years but always decided that we'd much rather make every attempt to pay the debts that we created.
We owned a business (not incorporated) for 10 years that we closed.....and closed with the store being $127,000 in debt.
We've done a bang up job of paying the debts down and now are at about $33,000.
The problem that we're experiencing now is that what's left is all super-ultra-HIGH interest debt that has become impossible to pay down further.....2 of the old debts are 24+% interest and when we make the minimum payment, that ONLY covers the interest...nothing goes to the principal.
You know the story I'm sure. LOL
Anyway, my husband recieved a permanent layoff notice a month ago, so now we have that added to our pile of stresses....he worked his job for 27 years and missed 3 days due to illness in that entire time. We're not worried that he will be able to get a job but we will no doubt have to leave our depressed area so that he can find work. *I say "he" and I really mean "we"...of course I work but the jobs available to me are primarily minimum wage jobs, nothing great to speak about.
We have several family members willing to co-sign a personal installment type loan and use their own collateral to help secure the loan...but we're having a dickens of a time even FINDING a company that will loan us more than a few thousand dollars.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice you can offer. |
