| I'm in Louisiana, I went to school in Florida. I attended this Flordia university and I applied for a student loan to cover the cost of tuition. I completed the loan application, turned it in to a school financial aid representative, and began school. Half way through the semester, I learn that the loan application never arrived at the lending institution. As deadlines for "garaunteed" aid had passed by then, I was unable to pay for the semester, my classes were suspended at midsemester, and eventually all record of my attendence for that semester were elimanated by the school, except for the tuition bill. Of course, the school is insisting on being paid.
Should I have to pay them?
The school lost my loan application, which left me unable to pay them, which forced me out of school, which placed me in a position with no college education and weakened employment opportunities due to the way the debt screwed with my credit report. Plus, having to leave school brought a different student loan I was able to acquire immediately due, adding to the size of my debt. Currently, I am not making enough to pay them.
Does anyone think the school can be made to expunge the tuition debt in this situation? |
