Two credit Inquiries within 30 days by same CreditorWhat is the name of your state? CA Hello, I was under the impression that if the same creditor pulls your credit report twice within a 30day period that only one inquiry should appear on your credit report per the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). However, I can't find the rule. Am I imagining this or is this a rule? Please point me to the correct section if it exists or other law if something else creates this regulation. Thanks. -William |

| There is no law but, I'm under the impression that CRA's treat things like multiple mortgage and auto finance inquries as a single inquiry for scoring purposes if they occured with a short period of time. |

| That's strange, I know that in the past, I was able to get an inquiry removed by the CRA in that it was a second inquiry within a 30 day period by the same creditor. I guess they were just being nice? |

| Well I know that "hard" inquiries aren't supposed to be made without a "permissible purpose"-you might contact the creditor that did this and ask for an explanation/justification for the 2nd inquiry. And I agree with "bigun";I don't know as it's a LAW per se, but multiple inquiries in a short time(I'm thinking it's 30 days)are regarded as "comparison" shopping"and I'm sure that there is probably a 'common sense' factor there... |
