Two separate bills together?

What is the name of your state? Indiana

Last week my husband received a notice from a CA. The original creditor was our local hospital. In June of 2002 he had an accident and from time to time we still receive bills that we have to continually refer to the insurance.. etc. This was a very large amount on this and my husband called the CA to verify. He was told this bill was from 1999 from when his brother lived with him(we're still going to validate). However there is also a SMALL bill that I intend on paying but now glad I haven't as of yet. The CA told my husband that the bills were put together. The small one is from last summer and from my husband. ARe they allowed to do this? We had NO idea of this bill until the letter last week. It seems to me that they wouldnt' be allowed to do this considering several reasons... 1. It's too different incidents, 2. Two different bills....

No, they can't. Read 810 of the FDCPA.
