Ugent! Please respond ASAP!What is the name of your state? AZ My sister just got a new apartment, but evidentally owes money to the apt. complex she moved from. When she moved, the mgr immediately rented her apt., and told her that because was a single mom w/ 2 kids, to pay off the balance as she could. Now, a creditor for the apt. got the name of someone she listed as a new reference, and called her. They wouldn't give information to him, but did call my sister at work and relayed the message. This guy wanted to know her new address, and she wouldn't give it to him, because he didn't identify who he was with. He told that he would find out today, where she lived and worked, and would "f**k her up". Now she is hysterical, thinking he's going to get her kicked out of her new apartment, harrass her at work, and she's even worried about going to jail. I need advice to give to her, can anyone please offer? |

| Relax.. none of those things will happen. I'm assuming that this 'mystery' caller is a collector hired by her former landlord ? First, she can't get arrested.. that just doesn't happen. If her new apt landlord felt her credit status was good enough to let her move in, they will NOT evict her now for a collection on the old apt. This moron, if he is a collector, sounds like he's stupid enough to violate the FDCPA flagrantly with language like that. She needs to find out just who this jerk is and who he represents. Has your sister tried calling her former landlord and asking if he sent her to a CA ? I'd start there, get information. Once you have information, she can stop the jerk from harrassing her. He would have to sue her to get any further, and she'd sure know about it if it goes that far. She'll be fine... ![]()
