Unauthorize credit card use

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

I had a sneaker store give my credit card number to Sports Illustrated magazine without my authorization. SI then changed $75 worth of magazines to my credit card. I contacted SI and they have agreed to refund my money.

Is this illegal for the sneaker store to give my credit card number to a 3rd party and can I take any legal action against them.

Thanks,
DaveWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

If your money is returned then you have been made "whole" (ie there's no further civil remedy available to you) though I'm not sure about the criminal aspect, if any.

Immediately report the card number stolen, and put the payment for sports illustrated subscription in dispute with your credit card company. What the person did at the store was fraud.

If it were me, I'd check with store management first to see what they will do about it. If unsatisfied with their response (which should involve a criminal complaint against the party involved in the crime), then I would file my own police report about it (including in the report that the money was later refunded).
