Question

Verification of Employment

What is the name of your state?FL

What is the intention of a collection agency when they try to verify employment? As explained in the other thread I started, I believe I am past the SOL on both accounts with asset acceptance, but I want to be sure before I fax back the verification of employment. The guy talked to my boss about it, and I don't know if he will get in trouble if I don't send it. He sent one on the 19th and then another on the 30th. The first one was to noone's attention and the second was directed directly to my boss, so I know they talked. I haven't had a chance to find out exactly what about yet. Thanks for the help!

First, don't start a new thread to continue a discussion. It is confusing as no one knows what you are referring to when you say "As explained in the other thread I started".

Second:
"What is the intention of a collection agency when they try to verify employment?"
*** If they have a judgment against you, this is probably the last step before they file a wage garnishment. If they don't have one, then this could just be an attempt to 'get your attention' and try to force your concern.... and payment.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Thank you and sorry about the other reference. I just got these people on my butt and I think it is because they realize they have no legs to stand on. They have not been so aggressive up until this point. Does it count if I fax a validation request letter? I will follow up by mail.

*** Yes, it 'counts'.... just be sure to keep your confirmation receipt. And be sure to also mail a copy (certified RRR) just to CYA.

One thing you might do is have your boss request a signed release before information is given to anyone regarding your employment. Also, your boss (or anyone else for that matter) is not required to verify employment just because some company requests it, unless it is ordered by a court. Just keep that in mind... Believe me, I know this for a fact, because I attempt to verify employment on a daily basis...
