i am in Virginia. i have received a request from attorneys in ny requesting monies for an old credit card dating back more than 10 years. i believe i paid but no longer have receipt. should i pay again or is their a statue of limitation? how should i respond?

Inform the attorneys in writing, certified mail, return receipt requested, that the statute of limitations on debts is 5 years in Virginia and to not contact you about the debt ever again. Deny owing anything and tell them you will contact your state attorney generals office if they contact you again about the debt.
