wage garnishment in alabama

on april 15, 1999 i was involved in a head on collison where it was the other persons fault but she got away due to a legal technicality. i incurred over 80,000 worth of medical bills for the 8 days i spent in icu. today my employer received a summons for wage garnishment dated "issued may 15, 2000". i offered to pay this hospital 50 dollars a month in nov 99 and was told they would not accept less than 300 a month. i work in a fast food restraunt. question: how much of my wages will they withold, is there nothing i can do. i never have received any notice other than the summons my employer got today. i have 3 kids and only make so much to survive.
