I am a single mother of 2 small children. I also have 5 credit card accounts that I have had for about 2 years.3 of these accounts were also rung up with my ex.I have been on my own for almost a year now, and am starting to have financial difficulties, especially since it is becoming difficult to collect child support from my ex.At any rate back in August I signed up with a credit counseling company whom I found over the internet. They have done nothing but to further my debt problem. when i signed up my payments were on time, i was concerend that i wouldn't be able to make the same large payments. i was also concerened about the high interest in which the agency stated they would lower interest rates. in the begining they lost my account which took almost 2 and a half months to start my program rather than the standard 30 days. also i have had non stop calls from creditors still, and it seems as the agency hasn't done much help. I have been with the agency since August of 2000, have sent them the agreed monthly payment every month,(with receipts-from checks made out from my credit union)and i just received notification through the mail the other day that one of my accounts had been sent to collections even though i have been on this service. I am not able to stay on this agency for obvious reasons, and am looking towards bankruptcy. I have called these creditors and they have been nothing but rude to me, unwilling to work out any agreements. i cannot be taken to court.does anyone have any advice for me?????? |
