Writing on checks

I am in Nevada but this check is being cashed in California. Here is my question. I have been sending my ex a 100$ check for the support of my son. I know it's not much but my hours at work were cut and this is all I can send right now. She will not go to court to push for child support and will not come up with an agreement for me to see my son. Anyways, I write in the memo on the check "support for my son" and she writes above that "partial". Who is she to say that this is partial when there is no agreement anywhere. Is this legal for her to be writing on my checks without my knowledge and then cashing them.

She can write on the checks. She can't change the amount, she can't sign your name, but she can write on the check.

If you send a company a check to pay a bill and you forget to write the account number on the check, are you saying they aren't allowed to write on the check without your knowledge and then cash it?

By the way: if she decides to sue you for child support, the money you give her will probably not count for much and she can go after you for back support. Giving money under these circumstances with no court order is just absolutely stupid.

Is it possible that this sort of petty quibbling has something to do with you living on one side of the Sierra Nevada and your son the other?
