Texas. Texas. I have a credit card with Chase in which I consolidated debt with a 3.9% on all transfers. It's been about a year since I have made all the transfers and all seemed OK. One day while opening mail that I had received from them, I noticed that they had enclosed a notice that unless I wrote them in person and requested that they did not change the rate, it would go to 10.9%. I immediately called, and while talking on the phone with them about this, they told me that I had to be transferred because my account has been closed out. (Now, I am getting really pissed!

) Once I get someone in that department, I asked who closed out the account, and they told me it was me and that I had faxed them requesting to close it out. I asked if they could send that to me, and they replied that I had to send a fax to them to request it. After much frustration, I hung up the phone, typed up a letter and sent it to them requesting to not change the interest rate on my card. After that, I sent them a fax requesting "the fax I sent regarding the closing of my account". A week or two passed and didn't hear anything back. Finally, I got a fax back from them with the alleged fax that I had sent. It was very simple and stated, "Please payoff my account and close" with the account number and my name at the bottom of it. No signature, no cover sheet to see where it had been faxed from, etc. Now, I am arguing with them about why they closed it out, etc. Do I have any rights on this at all, or do I just bend over and take it???
