What is the name of your state? Indiana
If I lease a building and open a sports bar in it, can the owners of the property be brought into a lawsuit if someone sues? Would it be my business that gets sued or their property or both? I would like them protected from this. Would having it in the contracts be enough to protect them?

Yes; it depends, but anyone can be sued; and, depending how strong the indemnity clause is, yes, it's possible and highly recommended. You might also want to do some reading on "Dram Shop" laws if you plan on leasing to a bar.
