Does a company that requires its vendors to submit their invoices over its own website (which are then stored in their database and subsequently approved and processed electronically) have any right to modify the vendor's submitted invoice data for invoices that they don't intend to pay due to a dispute of the entire invoice amount (such as automatically setting the invoice amount to zero after its age counting from the most recent submission/resubmission reaches 120 days), without having an explicit granting of this right in the contract, even if they keep the previous version as a history and make it available for viewing only to the vendor?

What Does Your Response Mean?

The company is located in Illinois. Are you saying that "US Law" doesn't apply to this question? Many of their contracts comprise interstate commerce, as they are a national company. Does the "US Law" not regulate invoicing?

When posting a question, you must list the name of your state.

You have now done that.

Yes, they can do this. It doesn't mean they don't owe the money...

Look - it's no different than if you send a paper invoice and the a/p clerk crosses out your total and writes a different figure. It doesn't mean they owe any less. You're not going to find any law prohibiting it.
