What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ny
can an independent contractor who delivers newspapers and thereby asks for and could get tips from the customers get terminated. The company
that contracts the contractor over the years has issued printouts to the effect that any contractor who places xmas envelopes at delivery drops would be terminated immediately. Bonuses are issued(very minimal amounts $50 -$200) but these amounts dont come close to what customers actual give to the respective routes. Please advise Thank you for your Time and Attention

the contract that you work under conttrols what they can [and you can and cannot do.

By your own admission you were put on notice, several times, that solicitation of tips is not allowed.

You did it anyway.

You can and will be/were fired.

Why do you think that, as the bonus provided is so low, you would have any right to do what you want despite being warned to not do so.

Why the surprise?

An IC can be terminated for almost any reason, even those specifically prohibited by laws that protect employees. Considering it would be legal to terminate an employee for what you did, it is certainly legal to terminate an IC.
