when one of only four members of an LLC dies (all had equal shares) how should the deceased members shares be handled?
It depends on what your operating agreement states. Sometimes agreements state that the deceased persons membership must revert to the LLC, with monetary compensation to the heirs, some agreements are silent on the issue. However, the heirs/the estate either will become members of the LLC or will get monetary compensation for the membership.
