What is the name of your state? Alabama

My husband and I have been in process of taking over his parents business for 6 months. I work a full time job and I have been the primary bread winner for years, but since we moved, my husband has been able to work full time at the business. Now it is time to sign papers, that I have found out that are only a bond for title, but his parents want to leave my name off the contract. I thought that a married couple cannot sign separate contracts, what effects one, effects the other.

Should I be ok about the fact that my name is not on the papers, or is it against the law?
