California- we are currently in escrow on a 5-acre property. The property is in the process of being split from the main property. We have been in escrow since April. Seller’s listed property before split was approved by County and mortgage company. The seller’s realtor said that the sellers need to get a release from the mortgage company before they can sell (original property still has mortgage on it). Does this normally take this long? Also, the offer that we made said a 30-day escrow. At the time of the offer, the seller’s agent said it would be ready to close in about a week, that was 2 months ago. Does the 30-day escrow that we put weaken our offer since we are outside 30-days since it was accepted? Thanks.
