| Who pays for the appraisal when a house is about to be sold? I have talked to a couple of real estate agents who have stated that it is the sellers responsibility. I am about to buy my first house but the gentleman at the mortgage company says I have to pay the $400 for the appraisal before he can finish the paperwork. There is nothing in the Washington state laws concerning this.
