Adverse Possession

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? North Carolina.

One week prior to settlement, and without my knowledge or consent, the buyer had the unoccupied house on my property demolished. I found out about this when the buyer's agent requested postponement of settlement to give buyer additional time to secure financing which, according to the agent, would not have been available unless the existing structure was demolished. The buyer is now anxious to go to settlement, but I have refused.

What are my options?

I am unclear as to why you do not want to go ahead with the sale.

(Obviously, the buyer is clearly an idiot; no argument there.)

Maybe because of destruction of private property.

**A: that's not a good excuse because the writer had the property already sold.

Adverse Possession

Is this situation any different than a rancher selling a ranch and cattle to a buyer who, pre-settlement, sells off the cattle in order to generate cash to close the deal?

Tell us why you do not want to sell now.

This doesn't have anything to do with adverse possession.

**A: yes it is very different.
