Buying out a partner.

What is the name of your state? Arizona

Hello, I'm trying to find the best way to do this.
My wife and I are getting a divorce and we are having a really hard time selling our home. She wants to "buy me out" of my half of the house. What is the best way to do this? How do I come up with a reasonable amount for her? Any ideas will be great! Thanks.

You could either use the amount your county says the home is worth for property taxes or have a real estate agent give you a idea of what the house would sell for. its mostly up to the 2 of you. If your both on reasonable terms with each other in all matters accept for staying married then you 2 should be able to come to reasonable terms with each other. Make sure at the very least you have a atty help you make sure that when you sell your share to her that it is done cleanly and that you no longer have any legal ties to the property incase something later on happens to her and her economic situation goes belly up.

Be careful about using the county's appraisal for value in selling the property. The tax appraisal, in some areas, are way too low!
