Can a Living Trust purchase a house?

California...

I'm trying to buy real estate anonymously because of an abusive ex. I don't want my name to show up on public records as owning a property because then my address will be known. How to get around this?

Can I create a revocable living trust and call it something like XYZ Living Trust, then use that trust as the BUYER of the property? I would not use my own social security number to set up the trust, but rather use a government issued EID number.

I would also need to secure financing for the mortgage, so I'm not sure if that's possible to do when a Living Trust is making the purchase. Not even sure a Living Trust can MAKE the purchase.

I've heard you can buy using an LLC, but the shareholders of the LLC are public record. I've also heard something about using an International Business Corporation for anonymity, but I've heard it's hard to secure financing that way.

Any advice? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

While you can do it, the financing will be hard because of the trust issue.

Call the local battered women's shelter (no matter if you are a woman or not), what is happening is not that unusual and I bet they have a handout or prepared plan on how to accomplish your goal.
