Can she screw me over?

South Carolina

My fiance and I wish to purchase a trailer from his sister. We decided not to involve the bank or a lawyer and make our own contract and finance through her. The orgininal agreement was that we would purchase the trailer for $4,000 with a $500 downpayment and would pay $200 a month for 17 months. She also agreed to sign the title of the trailer over to us as soon as the downpayment was made. We planned on the three of us signing the typed contract and having it notorized. The trailer is a fixer-upper, which is to come from our pocket, she refuses to invest any towards fixing the trailer. If she decided to kick us out once the trailer is repaired to her liking, can she? Would this contract stand up in court? Could she drag her two children to court and give a sob story and win the trailer back even though she's transfered the title in our name?
