Can't get title for my moms trailer

What is the name of your state? Virginia
My mother recently passed away. I could not afford to pay the lot rent on her trailer. I had some friends help me move all her stuff out. While we were moving it out, a man who lives in the same trailer park came up and asked if the trailer was for sale. I told him I hadn't really thought about it. He pulled out $2500.00 and said that he would like to buy the trailer for the cash. I needed that money to help pay for my mom's funeral as she had no life insurance. I told him I wasn't sure if I could find the title. He said it was no problem, take my time. I have not been able to get the title as the original loan company went out of business in 1976. I traced the loan company's transfer through several banks and it now resided with JP Morgan and Chase. However, they cannot find the paper work to release the lean (Which I have a signed off copy of).

The man who bought the trailer has given me to the 31st of this month to produce the title or he is going to sue me for the $2500.00 plus $3,000.00 in repairs he has made to the trailer.

I would appreciate any advice someone could give me on how to handle this matter.

Sincerely,

Sherry BrooksWhat is the name of your state?

If you have a signed lien release then go to the DMV (or whoever licesnes trailers in your state) and get a lost title.

Now, the big question. How is it you have the right to sell anything once belonging to mommy?
