capitol gains tax california

What is the name of your state? California

I had a house and sold it in 2000. I bought another house and am now thinking about selling and moving to another city to be closer to my daughter. I am 52 years old: do I have to pay a capitol gains tax? I am going to pay off the loan of 200,000. and have a appr gain of 300.000.

**A: please post on the Tax Law board and state for both houses whether or not it was/is your personal residence.
