Changing Job Prior to Closing

New Hampshire

So, my problem is as follows:

My fiance and I have been approved for a mortgage and are in the process of closing on said mortgage. Our closing date is only two weeks away. As excited we are, I made the situation very stressful.

Last week, I had a job interview for a position that will increase my pay, but that is a different occupation. I'm currently a teller at a bank and the new position would put me as a customer service representative. The job is a great move for me, as I am currently miserable with my current position, but I'm afraid it's going to send our closing down the tubes, so to speak.

My fiance has been at his job for about six years and has great work history. His salary is more than double my salary.

I was given the start date for my new job as November 9th, our closing is the 13th. I tried to move my start date to the 16th, but it's not a possibility. I already gave my notice to my current position and will be moving on to my new position, without a gap in employment.

What should I do? If I tell my lender, will my dreams of owning our first home be squashed? I'm nervous about what the outcome will be. But, like I said, the job move is what's best for me.

Oh, also, we're first time homebuyers, so we're really itching to get in before November 30th, so moving the closing date is a near impossibility--unless it's only by a week or two.

Advice?

Advice?
**A: how close are you to closing? Specifically, what outstanding items need to be completed?
Are you at the prior to funding stage?

They still need to get the verbal verification of employment. Aside from that, all is completed. My manager said that she'd say I still work there if they call, but I'm afraid if they call they won't speak with her. Or, that they'll find out it was all a lie.

My apologies, I edited my answer above. For some reason, I did not see the whole question only the part asking when I was closing.
