Hi,
Florida here. I found a condemned home. my contractor says needs $30k of work. Neighborhood homes go for about $100k. I talked to code officer, house is okay to fix up. I talked to owner, Old lady, lives out of state. No mortgage but has some tax leans. if she doesn't pay next time around, Forclosure!! she claims she will pay up and fix up soon. the home hasn't been touched in 5 years. I offered $30k she said $50k. I said $51k. no deal yet. I want this house. Seems to me, even at $60k I'm okay. but is it really worth it considering time spent.
Thanks,

wsticks

Get a home inspection. Then compare the report with the contractor's estimate.
