Question

Contract parameters


What is the name of your state? CA

Some friends of ours went through a realtor and made an offer on our house as a back-up offer to a pending sale. It looks like the pending sale is a no-go. My question is this: since my friends involved realtors in the situation, how long do the realtors have a vested interest in the stake of any transaction between me and my friends? These same friends had inquired about purchasing our house long before we ever talked with a realtor. As you can tell, I am very unhappy that they involved realtors in our negotiations. I was hoping to finalize a deal with them after our contract with our current realtor expired in a few weeks.

**A: you would still owe the realtor commission, if that's what you are asking.

Is there a time limitation or would I owe them a commission if I sold it to my friends a year, two years from now?

I would say up to a year. Two years would be questionable. Read your listing contract.
