Damage by seller after closing

We closed on the purchase of our new home, and in the two days we allowed the seller to vacate, they flooded the kitchen, causing significant damage to the hardwood floor and to the ceiling below in the newly finished basement. What recourse do we have?

Did you have the seller's keep their home owners insurance on the property until they vacated? And of course, you went to closing with a paid home owner's policy on the home.
