Illinois. I would like to buy out my husbands 1/2 of the house, but I am not sure the procedure. Do I buy out what the home could be sold for or what we have left in equity? Is there anything specific that I should be looking at or doing?

Consult a real estate attorney. If there is a mortgage, you must refinance to get the mortgage out fo his name and pay his share of the equity.
