Do I have any legal recourse?

What is the name of your state? Ohio

I have lived in my home for 3 years. I was recently having some interior decorating done and the contractors discovered that support beams within the walls were rotting out because of water damage. There was also extensive mold damage and the lining to the outer wall of my home had literally decayed way. The damge was traced back to the roof. When I moved into my home the seller told me that the roof was only 2 years old. Now upon further inspection from my homeowner's adjuster and several roofing and interior construction contactors the roof should never had passed the home inspection. Water has been leaking through several areas on the roof for years and has finally rotted through several interior support beams and drywall. Also it was discovered that several of these problem areas had been patched over several time suggesting that there was knowledge of these leaks. My thinking is that the seller knew there was existing damage to the roof and tried to cover it up. I am also suspicous of the inspector for not noticing the obvious damage to the roof.

Is someone liable in this case?

Legal recourse continued.....

The only person that I have talked to is my realtor who worked with another realtor during the home purchase. She told me that when she contacted the other realtor about the situation he never returned her phone calls. And to this day has not done so.

Did you get a copy of the inspection report before you bought the house and did it have any mention of roof or attic issues?

Yes I did receive the inspection report and everything was said to be okay.

As for my realtor being a idiot, I don't know what you mean?
