Eligibility to puchase property in US by a non-resident

I and my wife have US multiple entry B1/B2(Tourism/business) visas for 5 years. We plan to purchase a house in the US ( by paying in full or in instalments). I have a bank account in Maryland.
Are we eligible to purchase a house in the US in the above circumstances?

Do you have employment, social security numbers and credit history in the US?

I don't find any residency requirements in Maryland; take a look for yourself. I made but a brief search.

No. We do not have SSN and do not work or pay tax in the US nor do we have any credit history.

I know of no limitations on who can own property in the U.S. That does not mean one will not have problems if numbers and payments are unusual or do not match up with records, it's just there is no law I know of which prevents foreign ownership of assets.
