Escrow settlement fees

What is the name of your state? CA
Well ahead in the game, I requested escrow company to provide an estimate of settlement costs. Ofcourse, it came back with a lot of BS charges and what not.
I negotiated with them, providing them with quotes from the competiton and they agreed to revise the estimate. They came down from $2800 to almost $2100.

Now we are ready to order loan docs, and final walk through on the property. Escrow co sent my lender an estimate of settlement costs, which is $2800 approx.

I only have a faxed copy of the revised estimate, ($2100) on the escrow companys letterhead.

At closing, can i challenge the charges based on the faxed estimate that i have?
If not, can i take them to small claims court?
What would be the best thing to do, so that we do not have to shell out the money.

**A: you challenge them NOW rather than wait until closing.
