Final Property Tax Responsibility

What is the name of your state? Wisconsin.

I recently sold my home. One reason was that the city put in curb and gutter and I could not afford the increase in taxes. The real estate agent assured me several times that I would not have to pay the taxes. Then when the house was sold I found out that it is state law and considered a pre-existing condition that I am responsible for the taxes. The agent outright lied to me several times and acted unethically. Do I have a legal course of action to recover the $3000 that this will cost me?
