Foreclosure Gone wrong

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Nebraska
My wife and I recently bought a new home construction. The home was a foreclosure. The builder had pretty much finished the house when he had went under. We found the house and made an offer to the bank. The offer was pending a few details be done (paint touch ups, door handles on a few doors, Etc.) One thing not done was the hook up of the dishwasher. We bought the house and signed with an addendum to the contract that these things needed to be done. During the process of dishwasher hookup the kitchen was flooded and ruined the wood floors. I called the bank and they state that we are the owners of the house and we must submit this to our insurance. I think this is wrong. The contractor who was hired by the bank was the one installing the dishwasher. Do I have a case? Any thoughts? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
