Home Builder Forged My Husbands Signature What To Do Now?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

Today we found out that our builder forged my husbands signature on a document that states our closing date. This document states as well if we do not close by this date we are liable for so much money per day.

We only found out about this after our realtor brought up the question of why we had not received our letter yet and then thats when we were presented with the forged letter.

What should our next course of action be? What are our rights with the money we have already put down on the home?

We are suppose to meet tomorrow with the builder and I want to make sure we are protected and not taken advantage of again.

Though I don't see any real benefit in a builder signing a document setting a closing date, I guess it is possible.

What did the builder say when you confronted him with your claim??
If you feel you can PROVE the forgery, then talk with the owner of the construction company.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

We have the document and the construction head admitted that the builder-superintendant did forge the document. The benefit is our builder got a bonus for completing up to this point if we signed that document.

If he 'benefited' (received bonus), contact the police and file a complaint.
