Question

home closing

What is the name of your state? Florida

I want know if a closing can be performed, althought the seller's
mortgage holder (previous owner) can not be located to determine payoff amount?

**A: it is possible, although escrow companies do not like to go by the amount listed on the title report.
They need an updated payoff statement directly from the mortgage company.

Where have you been sending your payments? I had a similar situation. Mortgage holder sailed all over the place and was hard to locate for several months. See what bank he uses by looking at a cancelled check. Call the bank and explain the situation to them and they will (maybe) flag his account so that when he uses his debit/check card he is required to call the banking center. Bank of America actually did that for my customer so he could contact the mortgage holder.
