| Home Inspection/Due Diligence Period Over, No Word From Buyer -- Now What? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ
We recently accepted an offer for the sale of our home in NJ, passed smoothly through attorney review, and the home inspection period just ended this weekend.
To date, we still have had no word from the buyer.
Contractually speaking, we are now no longer obligated to consider any requests they make as a result of their home inspection report, correct?
We don't want to lose the sale, but we don't want to be pushed around by some pushy buyer who thinks "buyers' market" means they can play fast and loose with contract deadlines. We do have a back-up offer, although it's not as high as this one.
We are also amenable to responding to some basic issues in spite of their not meeting their deadline. However, if I'm reading the contract correctly, they can no longer use the home inspection portion of the contract to get out fo the deal, right? |
