Kentucky Two days before closing Seller backs out

What is the name of your state?Kentucky- My fiancee and I were in the process of buying a home and property in Kentucky we were suppose to close on the property in two days. However received a phone call a few minutes ago stating the seller did not want to sell. We've already purchased insurance for the home for closing. We have paid appraisal fees, escrow monies plus fees to the bank. Can this individual do this? Confused and angery. and can we get our money back?

Thanks for the update, we recently had a poster have a similar thing happen both with the house he bought and the buyer of his house at the last minute, but both of those went through and he moved this weekend, must have been the full moon.

Yes, very confusing but the full moon made for a good excuse.
