Lease with option to buy...get deposit back?

Here's the situation. We came into a house with a for sale by owner deal. Lease with option to buy. We put down $4000, and after a year have decided not to exercise our option and move on. Are we entitled to our $4000 since we are not buying?

**A: no one here can help you because we cannot read the contract and it's provisions with respect to how the deposit was to be handled in the event the option was not excercised.
Have an attorney now review your contract since you did nto hire one before signing the contract.
