Question

Lender gave me incorrect credit score

What is the name of your state? PA

I am purchasing a house in PA. It's my first house. I applied for a loan with a large nationaly-known bank. During my initial conversation with the lender, he reviewed my credit report and said that everything looked just fine and I would have a rate of 6.4%. He said that he didn't need to give me a letter to prequalify me, that everything would be fine. After completing the contract with the seller, the inspection, etc, I received a letter in the mail saying my rate would be 9.41%!!! When I called the bank, he didn't know what I was talking about and took three days to find out what made the difference. He said that I had a credit score of 633 with T.U. He kept me on the fence for an entire week with promises of helping me out. I only had two weeks before I had to close, so I finally went to another lender. He pulled my report from my three bureaus and my scores are actually over 700. I called the corporate headquarters to complain about this (the delay is making me miss my closing date) and they called him to discuss the situation. I got an angry call from him telling me that I need to make up my mind and decide if I'll be using his bank and if not, not to waste his time. He also threatened me that I could call anyone I wanted to tell them about the phone call, because no one would believe me. This person came highly recommended to me by a man I know who has used him frequently. What are my rights here?

**A: you have a right to file a complaint.
