| need advise I'm buying a home in MA, it was scheduled to close on Nov. 18, but the mortgage company informed me they can not close on time due to they are missing the seller's payoff statement. The closing attorney (hired by the mortgage company) said they have mailed documents to the seller two weeks at the property address, but was returned since seller does not live there. And the attorney also called the seller over the phone and asked for seller's social security number and mortgage information but was refused by the seller. Now the seller is blaming on the mortgage company, and asked me to compensate him for the interest, tax, insurance on his exisiting mortgage. If I don't sign the letter to compensate him and extend the contract, I will loose my deposit and the property. What should I do? |
