need help

What is the name of your state?mississippi

If I have a contract on a home and backed out, forfeiting the earnest money, asked for the builder to give me a signed release, they are not responding now, how long do I have to wait for the release, can I go forth with another contract?? I can not get any answers from them. If I do go on with another contract and close on the home, can that 1st one come back to haunt me?? Help please. Is there a certain amount of time that they have to respond before I can go forward?

Without reading the contract for any "OUT" clauses there's not much more we can tell you except to take the contract to a real estate attorney for review.
