Need some advice on buying a home.

What is the name of your state? Louisiana

My boyfriend and I have been looking for a home for over 8 months now. He did get pre-approved and when we pulled his credit report to make a long story short . He had 2 judgements on him from 1999 and 2000 that total $15,000 that is with the intrest in them.
We were told we had to pay these judgements off before we could purchase a home and it could be closed. We both contacted the the collectors and got alot of information yet we were going in nowhere. We hired a lawyer and have already given her $2000 and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AT ALL******************************************....He does want to pay off the debts the original amout owed was $6000 now its $15,000.

Can we purchase a home in a parish where the judgement were not filed and close on a home , we have found a home. We have been told that but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I do know we can not purchase a home in the parish we live in now untill the judgements are cleared up and seems we can do nothing to clear them up right now even with an attorney...

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Angie2007

Who told you? The mortgage company/bank. Sure...they can make that stipulation. It doesn't have anything to do with where the judgement is or where the house is, your bf's credit is burdened by it and they're not going to let you have the money (at least not under the original terms).

Interest is a bitch. What story does the lawyer give?

The judgments are on his credit reports PERIOD doesn't matter if he moves to tinbuck2 it will still show up as two outstanding judgements.

Sure you can, pay the debts or negotiate a pay off with the creditors or who ever holds the judgments.
