new house contract

What is the name of your state? Virginia

My wife and I entered into a contract to have a new house build built. we put $25,000 down. now my wife is thinking about being a stay home mom. We can't afford the new house if that happens. I heard the terms "sell contract back to builder". Is that possible? How would that work? Thanks.

I should add, the property value has jumped quite a bit since we wrote the contract. crazy to walk away from instant equity, but such is life.
