I bought my first home on May 24th in Ohio. The home was built in 1938 and was owned by man who passed away. His son inherited the house but didn't live in it, so the house sat vacant for about a year, although the son did enter the premesis to clean and do minor remodeling work. Less than 24 hours after my closing, the sewer line backed up after one shower's worth of water. The line is clogged with roots and may very well need to be replaced to the tune of several thousand dollars. My contract states that the home must be sold in "operable" condition. The seller won't pay for the sewer problems because he says he wasn't aware of the problem (therefore no false disclosure). I'm looking at legal action. Do I have a leg to stand on? |
