Prepayment Penalties in Maryland

What is the name of your state? Maryland

I am taking a real estate course to become a licensed salesperson in the state of Maryland. I read in one my books that "The written agreement between mortgagor and mortgagee cannot require any prepayment penalty".

Does this mean that prepayment penalties are illegal in Maryland for mortgages (as opposed to deeds of trust).
