The house is a 1940's house which was purchased 12 months ago. We had an inspection done prior to buying the house which found minor evidence of termite damage on a cabinet and basement door. A few months after the purchase we found water coming in through the basement and noticed water stains on a drop ceiling installed in one section of the basement where the water was coming in. The ceiling tiles were removed to find the source and extensive termite damage was discovered in the floor joists and foundation sill underneath. Should this damage have been disclosed by the prior owner? Who is responsible for the repair?
